Meanwhile, looking abroad, industrial hemp is attracting great expectations as a material that can pave the way toward a sustainable future. From fibers and building materials to food, cosmetics, and even bioplastics, its diverse applications hold revolutionary potential for reducing environmental impact while driving economic growth.

To me, hemp is a symbol of devotion. It gives of itself generously and completely, and despite having one aspect excessively shunned, it has continued to bestow its blessings without faltering. Those blessings extend not only to humankind but to all living creatures and to the Earth itself. I cannot help but feel deep reverence and awe toward something that continues to give without seeking anything in return. That is precisely why we bear the responsibility to receive the baton passed down by our predecessors and hand it forward to future generations with sincerity.

I believe that the activities of HEMP HUB serve to fulfill this responsibility earnestly and to advance it in a manner that benefits society. We are convinced that industrial hemp can make significant contributions to the revitalization of Japanese agriculture, regional development, and the realization of a sustainable society. To unlock that potential, we shall grow as an organization trusted by society, guided by transparency and accountability.

HEMP HUB shall fulfill its role as a platform that disseminates accurate knowledge about industrial hemp, connects people, and co-creates supply chains. Working in collaboration with those on the front lines of production and processing, we will pioneer new applications, support technological development, research, and quality improvement, and promote the development of human resources. And while maintaining strict compliance with laws and regulations, we will build a sustainable and sound industrial ecosystem, one step at a time.

It is thanks to the farmers across Japan who have preserved the tradition and continued cultivating Japanese hemp over many long years that we are able to begin this endeavor today. It is their noble history that allows us to take this new step toward the future.
